More Information

We hold monthly meetings on the third Friday of each month from September through May.

The monthly meetings are our general membershop meetings also known as the Speaker

Series Season Meeting. The meetings consist of committee reports to let the members and

any of the public who attend the status of the club, progress on the committees, upcoming events

and how the public can join and how the members can volunteer. Following the business portion

of the meeting we have a guest speaker usually a professional astronomer, a university professor,

a speaker from NASA and more.

Our guest speaker for September 19 is Dr. Charles Liu from the College of Staten Island. Description

of his presentation:

The Vera Rubin Observatory is the newest international astrophysical facility to open. It can gather more data each night than all other Earthbound telescopes put together.  Already, a number of groundbreaking observations have been obtained with this amazing telescope.  Hear about its technology, capabilities, and its latest scientific results, and find out how you can be part of the observatory's first ten-year science mission: the Legacy Survey of Space and Time.
