AELC Meeting

Our guest speaker will be David Cowall who will present: "AAVSO: Variable Stars and Kindred Spirits". For 114 years, the American Association of Variable Star Observers has been facilitating a world-wide collaboration of professional and amateur astronomers  to advance our scientific understanding of the universe. Dave will review a bit of the organization's history and explore some of the opportunities that membership provides.

Dave is a retired physician (Oncology, Hematology, Hospice and Palliative Medicene) and has been a member of AAVSO for 32 years being an active visual, CCD and solar observer, contributing thousands of observations to the AAVSO database as well as publishing two astronomical research papers. He was a site manager for one of AAVSO's remote robotic telescopes and has served on the AAVSO Board of Directors for several years and has just completed his tour as its Chairman.
