Astronomy on Tap – Orlando Event #30: From Lunar Water to Ice Giant Rings!

Greetings, Space Nerds! We’re back for our AoT Orlando Event #30! 🤯🚀 Come join us at the Ivanhoe Park Lager House on Thursday, April 23rd, from 7 – 9 PM for another out-of-this-world event! Tonight is Seminole State College Takeover Night! Derek Demeter, the director of the Emil Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State College, will start us off on the possibility of severe asteroid/comet impacts. Does our planet suffer from the chance of a severe asteroid or comet impact? Could this event potentially bring forth another major extinction event? Derek Demeter presents Preparation A, solutions that could be the first line of defense against asteroids. Then, Sean Greeney, a professor at Seminole State College, will bring us to the Trans Neptunian Objects of the outer solar system and exoplanets beyond, exploring Eris-ponsible Chaos and Pluto-nic Friendships. This is an AoT that you DON’T wanna miss!! ☄️

As always, we will finish off the night with a round of our space trivia, where you will have the chance to win some fun astronomy-themed prizes! Weather permitting, we will also have a telescope set up out back of the brewery at the end of the night for some stargazing!
