Astronomy On Tap: Galaxies, Black Holes, and the Birth of the Universe!

Get excited for Astronomy on Tap at Bow & Arrow Brewing at 6pm on Tuesday November 17th! Each FREE Astronomy on Tap event features accessible, engaging science presentations on topics ranging from planets to black holes to the beginning of the Universe. Events always start off with trivia and prizes to test and reward your new-found knowledge! There is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenter and other scientists who inevitably stick around for the beer. Kapinska (NRAO) Bio: Dr. Anna Kapinska is a Scientist at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO). She received PhD in Physics in 2012 from the University of Southampton in the UK. Before joining NRAO in New Mexico in 2018, she worked with international teams on first observations from the new generation radio telescopes based in Europe and Australia. Dr Kapinska is a leader in several major international radio astronomy projects, such as the Evolutionary Map of the Universe — a Southern hemisphere all sky radio survey, and citizen science projects such as Radio Galaxy Zoo. Her research focuses on lifecycles of radio galaxies produced by active galactic nuclei (AGN), and the role of supermassive black holes in shaping evolution of galaxies and the Universe as a whole. Dr Kapinska was awarded American Astronomical Society’s 2026 Harlow Shapley Lectureship to share her love for discovering the Universe with broad audiences. ———————————————— Upcoming Astronomy on Tap Events are on the third Tuesday of the month!
