Astronomy on Tap Hawai’i: November 11th

Come learn about AI for astronomy and supernova explosions on November 11th, 7–9 pm, at Astronomy on Tap Hawai’i at Hale Kanikapila!

UH Assistant Professor Winston Wu will introduce the basics of neural networks and discuss ongoing research training deep learning models for astronomy tasks. Gemini Observatory’s astronomer Jennifer Andrews will talk about the explosions of massive stars, some of the brightest events in our Universe! She’ll discuss why they blow up, historically important naked-eye events, and how the James Webb Space Telescope is changing our understanding of cosmic explosions.

Join us at Hale Kanikapila for a night filled with astronomy news, talks, trivia, and food and (cosmic) drinks. This event is completely free and open to everyone.
