The history of Arizona did not begin with the introduction of air conditioning. Archaeologist Scott Wood will discuss the rich and fascinating story of the prehistoric occupation and lifeways of the Hohokam people of the Phoenix valley and points north, from the desert foothills to Perry Mesa and Bloody Basin. In his talk, he will share insights into how these industrious peoples not only survived but thrived in our seemingly harsh environment. Centuries before air conditioning! Scott Wood retired in 2015 from his position as Forest Archaeologist for the Tonto National Forest. He has published extensively on the Hohokam, Salado and Apache archaeology in Central Arizona. Scott continues his research efforts with the Arizona Archaeological Society and Friends of the Tonto National Forest. Admission is $10, including an all-day Museum pass. (No discounts or Culture Passes will be honored.) FREE for members. Reservations are required!
