Darwin's Cats

Darwin’s Cats is a community science project conducted by the nonprofit organization Darwin’s Ark. While domestic cats have lived alongside humans for centuries, cats are surprisingly understudied. Darwin’s Cats is asking community scientists to join us in our research to rapidly advance our understanding of cat genetics, behavior, and evolutionary history.

Darwin’s Cats participants can tell us about their pets through free online surveys, or contribute to our genetics research by donating to sequence their cat’s DNA. Our community scientists are populating a massive, comprehensive database that will change the scale and scope at which pet research is conducted—not just at Darwin’s Ark, but worldwide.
