Dress in your best costumes and explore the eerie side of science with three levels of Halloween festivities, live entertainment, spooky science shows, creepy critter encounters, specialty cocktails and more.

It’s an evening packed with education, entertainment, and the opportunity to make new friends. Ready for some spooky fun just in time for Halloween?  Join us for a Slightly Haunted Hike at the boat launch. We will learn about the not so spooky nocturnal animals that call Lake Norman home and listen for what they sound like. Halloween costumes are encouraged! After the hike, kiddo’s will have a chance to get some candy from park staff.  Sturdy shoes are recommended for the hike. The hike will be less than a mile long. 

Sturgeon City Environmental Education Center is thrilled to announce our Silver Series, specially designed for lifelong learners like you! If you’re 60 or better and have a curious mind, our engaging two-hour classes are the perfect way to explore fascinating topics in environmental science and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). Imagine spending a morning learning about local ecology, the wonders of chemistry, or the art of nature – all in a supportive and stimulating environment. Our experienced Sturgeon City educators are passionate about sharing their knowledge and creating enriching experiences for every participant.

Join us September 27th from 10am-1pm as we partner with ACM and Nickelodeon to host Nickelodeon Our World: Worldwide Day of Play! This year guests will play with our favorite non-newtonian liquid - SLIME! We’ll have plenty of varieties to play with, the chance make your own to take home, and even the opportunity to get slimed just like your favorite Nickelodeon stars!  

Come out to Lake Norman State Park to be amazed by the night sky. We will be down in the swim beach parking lot with the Piedmont Amateur Astronomers and Friends of Lake Norman to look at the stars!  Piedmont Amateur Astronomers are coming out to the swim beach parking lot to show us the stars through their telescopes! Friends of Lake Norman State Park will be there and astronomy-based crafts will be available. Rain date will be September 27th. Meet at the swim beach.
