More Information

These volunteers help us by (1) locating and reporting on HWA infestations and (2) locating and reporting the locations of healthy hemlock stands in New York to better understand the spread of HWA and know what areas may be at risk. Our Hemlock and HWA Hunters are people who enjoy getting out in the field wherever there are hemlocks, and are able to report their findings by either using the NYiMapInvasives mobile app, by calling the DEC Forest Pest Hotline at 866-640-0652, or by alerting the NYS Hemlock Initiative by mail or email (NYSHI, 111 Fernow Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca NY 14850; info@nyshemlockinitiative.info or cm933@cornell.edu).
