More Information
Get up early and join Ranger Kevin for an informative hike about the history and significance of this vital desert river. The Gila River has a storied past, a very tenuous present, and perhaps a hopeful future. We’ll discuss the importance of rivers like the Gila to the health and diversity of desert life as we explore the riparian habitat for interesting plants and animals. The trail is approximately 2 miles and rated as moderately difficult, with stretches of loose rock, deep and sandy soil, and large rocks and other obstacles. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center. NO pets, please. MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center Map of meeting location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/oYCP7dCNeAaEDDWe7 PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events.
