More Information

Join Ranger Jacque for a challenging 3-mile fitness hike on the beautiful Wind Cave Trail. With 800 ft. elevation change, along with steep and rocky sections, this hike is rated difficult. For your safety and comfort, please wear sturdy, close-toed shoes, bring plenty of water, and apply sun protection (hat, sunscreen). Carrying snacks and dressing in layers are also recommended; hiking poles are optional. Please know your limits and keep pets at home. Water fountains and bathrooms are available at the trailhead where we will meet. National Take a Hike Day is celebrated each year on November 17 in recognition of the National Trails System Act of 1968. This Act designated a series of scenic, historic and recreation trails in both backcountry and urban areas in an effort to provide outdoor opportunities for the public. Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department encourages you to connect with nature on a ranger-led hike, on this day or any day, to explore and learn about our beautiful Sonoran Desert. To ensure everyone can enjoy this nationally recognized day, the regular day-use entry fee for all of Maricopa County’s regional parks will be waived on November 17. To learn more about National Take a Hike Day, visit: http://https😕/americanhiking.org/national-take-hike-day/. This hike is also a great way to accumulate miles towards your Maricopa County Parks and Recreation annual 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge, which runs from November 1 to February 8. 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge | Maricopa County Parks & Recreation This program is weather-dependent.
