Small-Scale Desert Agroforestry Canopy (Los Angeles County)

Free

Our goal is to track how desert-based stewardship affects hyper-local microclimates as well as ecological biodiversity, specifically by documenting soil surface skin temperature differences between the “Tiny Forest” canopy and the bare desert ground.

More Information

Since 2021, we have stewarded a “Tiny Forest” in the heart of Los Angeles County’s desert.

We are utilizing CitSci to document the soil surface skin temperature of our “Tiny Forest” canopy versus the bare desert ground. This is a hyper-local microclimate and biodiversity dataset.

Volunteers are invited to attend an in-person, on-site workshop to learn about our database goals and methods of collection.

Our nonprofit is on a mission to heal desertified Earth, one square foot at a time. We promote sustainable stewardship and land management practices in one of the harshest environments on earth: the Mojave Desert.
