More Information
Join Ranger Kevin for a family-friendly night hike under a shimmering desert silvered by a full moon. We’ll be heading out on a classic summer night hike. The route is roughly 2 miles over easy-moderate parts of the Gila, Baseline, Toothaker, and Horseshoe trails, so expect some uneven terrain, rocky surfaces and elevation change. While we’re walking, we’ll also be on the lookout for any number of desert critters, including owls, scorpions, snakes and coyotes. At some point we’ll turn our eyes skyward and pick out some notable stars and constellations. Bring plenty of water and wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring a flashlight and a black light if you have one to help the Ranger find scorpions near the trail. Portapotties are available at the trailhead and restrooms can be found in the large nearby picnic area.
