More Information

Join Ranger Nikki on an evening stroll to search for a variety of nocturnal critters. Ranger Nikki will lead you on an evening walk to seek out scorpions, bats, owls, tarantulas and other nocturnal critters. The route follows Gila Trail to Baseline and a portion of Rainbow Valley Trail to make a balloon loop covering just over 2 miles. The terrain varies from easy on Gila to moderate elsewhere, with uneven surfaces and small to medium rocks underfoot. Bring your blacklight and a regular flashlight. No pets, please. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Portable restrooms are available at the Trailhead and a regular bathroom and water area able in the picnic area just before the meetup location. Please bring $7 exact cash for the self-pay station or your annual pass to display on your vehicle. Please note: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (http://www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status. Please check the program listing online before coming to the park.
